By David Theoret

Shot Scope, an industry leader in laser golf GPS recently introduced its latest product offering in the crowded golf GPS watch industry; the V5. Inside the box, you'll find your new Shot Scope V5 Watch, 16 new generation shot tracking tags, and a USB charger. Download the free app, create a new account and you're good to go. Don't worry, they never charge a subscription fee!

There are a lot of features packed into this little watch. For starters, the V5 comes pre-loaded with over 36,000 courses worldwide. It delivers accurate GPS readings to greens, hazards, doglegs, layup points, and front and carry distances for all hazards. The Hole Maps feature allows you to view the hole layout and see exactly what lies ahead. The four buttons located around the watch case make for simple and easy navigation. Move the distance bar up and down the screen and you can find an accurate distance to any point on the course. You can even change the color of the display screen if you are so inclined.

The V5 has many of the company's patented features including Rapid-Fire Detection, Target-Lock Vibration and Advanced Red or Black optics. Shot Scope's Power-Sense technology is built into the watchband to deliver seamless and accurate shot detection. Shot recognition is displayed on the screen to confirm your shot has been recorded.

The V5 is very durable; the lens is made of hardened mineral glass and the silicone watchband has a UV dust-resistant coating. You should be able to get in 36 holes before it needs recharging. The 1.2" full-color display is backlit and easily readable during daylight hours.

No golf GPS device has more industry-leading features than Shot Scope and their performance tracking lets you keep track of your tee shots, approach shots, putting, scoring, and short game. You can break the data down and find specific info on the type of lie you had, which club you used, how far you hit it, proximity to the hole, etc. The built-in scorecard lets you keep track of your score as you play.

With each Shot Scope V5 watch you'll get 16 second-generation shot tracking tags to record all of your shots on the golf course seamlessly. To view the results, log on to the Shot Scope app and upload your round. Shot Scope will provide hundreds of insights and statistics on your game, including Strokes Gained and Handicap Benchmarking, letting you see which parts of your game could use improvement.

Shot Scope offers free course mapping and lifetime updates across all models. Their advanced range of wearable golf technology helps you learn your game and lower your score.

About: David Theoret

David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
